Men’s Shed

Men’s Sheds are shared workshops where you can enjoy fixing and making things in the company of others. Some come just for the tea and banter, and people of any skill/experience over the age of 18 are welcome.

Men’s Sheds are places to pursue practical interests, to learn and practice skills, and enjoy making and mending, with a difference: they are about social connections too.

Some sheds are purpose-built workshops, but they rarely start out that way. Many, like us in Gotherington, do not have premises at the beginning and instead form a group that meets regularly for the social connection and companionship whilst looking for somewhere to house a meeting place and workshop.
Many sheds get involved in community projects too, restoring village features, helping with gardening, computing, electronics, building things for local clubs and societies and individuals in need.

There are around 900 Men’s Sheds in England. If you would like to get involved in the ‘Shed’ that we are starting up here in the village, we have a WhatsApp group and the initial plan is to have meetings at the Sports Pavilion in Freeman Field.
